SEATTLE
"A Different Underworld" reflects my journey from a clumsy youth to a passionate skateboarder, capturing the essence of that reckless spirit. I have always been enchanted by the unexpected treasures that lie beneath Seattle's bridges and highways. In this painting, the pristine skyline of Seattle stands in stark contrast to the foreground, which features a scene of discarded furniture and old barbecue grills, alongside young people engaging in an indoor skateboarding session—hidden from public view. This juxtaposition highlights the city's vibrant yet overlooked subcultures. Honored to have received the City Arts Summer Art Walk Award in 2013, this piece holds a special place in my heart, even as it was tragically lost in the Eaton Fire of Los Angeles.
